Cenergist were asked to show Sodexo, who operate university halls of residence, the savings potential across their estate when Control Flow HL2024® is installed in student accommodation. The aim was to reduce the flow of water into the student bathrooms and kitchens to save water consumption, wastage from high flows and show cost reduction.
Control Flow HL2024® was installed into two groups of identical student apartments, where each had the same amount of bathrooms and kitchens. One apartment was selected for the test, with Control Flow HL2024® Inline being installed at each water inlet. A meter was also installed on the hot and cold feeds to measure the consumption and savings. The second apartment was used as a control room, where only the meter was installed to measure comparative usage.
Water consumption was measured over a period of time (see graph below) by recording the daily meter readings. Cenergist were able to accurately calculate the difference in consumption between both apartments showing a saving of 105 litres per day in the apartment where HL2024® was installed. The following savings were observed:
